Supervision

My approach

The Seven-Eyed Model (Hawkins & McMahon, 2020) informs my supervision work by emphasising both the client-counsellor relationship and the supervisee-supervisor relationship and prompts a focus on the different individual, relational and contextual factors. Our sessions are somewhat structured around this model but also tailored to any of your preferences. The model can provide a holistic perspective on what happens in the counselling room and the interconnectedness of the different eyes. It is useful in determining the source of tension or stuckness with a more objective, non-judgemental lens.

My offering

I offer 1-2-1 supervision online for counsellors either monthly for £60 an hour or fortnightly for £45 for 45 minutes (these rate will remain the same in 2026).

My background is in person-centred counselling, qualifying in 2016, and accredited with BACP in 2022. Most of my client work has been online with private clients and insurance referrals dealing with grief/loss and anxiety. As expected with insurance referrals, I work with a whole range of people on diverse issues short-term so appreciate the challenges navigating client issues in a limited timeframe.

I can also be a useful addition to your primary supervisor to explore setting up a private practice, working with race and ethnicity, or working towards accreditation.

My aims as a supervisor are to help you build competence and confidence in your practice – to help you feel less stuck with client work; to develop your own internal supervisor; and to recognise and uphold the professional boundaries and ethical framework that matter to you.

Testimonials

“I am so pleased to have found Jen. She has been just what I needed at a time when I was struggling to feel engaged in my practice. She has helped me to reconnect with my work, and I really appreciate her sensible, grounded, and person-centred perspective and direction.”

“Jen has been my counselling supervisor over the past several months. I find Jen to be consistently professional, organised and she brings the guidance and clarity that I need to our sessions. I find she has a strong ability to identify key themes and reflects them back thoughtfully and succinctly. Jen’s input and professionalism stays with me after sessions, as I continue to reflect on shaping my own client work. Thank you!“
